HOW TO IMPROVE SECURITY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION(EXECUTIVE Article
HOW TO IMPROVE SECURITY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION(EXECUTIVE SUMMARY) - Article Example Locks and alarm on doors and windows should be fixed. Children suffering from autism and Alzheimerââ¬â¢s disease should be supplied with tracking devices and ID bracelets for automatic trace of them whenever they leave the school compound. Moreover, family emergency plans should be employed in monitoring of students. A student drowned to death in the presence of a teacher and a supervisor. The death of Avonte led to several questions of how the schools administrations are poor in that they have no full responsibility of students. They should always know the whereabouts of all their students wherever within the compound. In the case of our student, the boy got out through the gate of Long Island City School despite the presence of a security officer. The teachers were around the school, but they find out that the boy was missing. All they claimed was that none had the password for the live cameras a statement that seemed funny indicating how irresponsible the administration was. To worsen the case, his parents had talked with the Paraprofessionals that the boy was suffering from autism information that was not shared. The findings revealed that many schools in NYC have inadequate staff and resources making it impossible to monitor all the students. Insufficient number of special instructors such as school aiders and paraprofessionalsââ¬â¢ has contributed to increasing in insecurity in schools. Staff should wear uniforms for identification and distinction between visitors. School doors should always be locked. Parents and staff should have a good association in sharing vital information about the students. The neighbours should be vigilant and report any abnormal issues to the school authority to increase security. Adoption of technology seems to be the only option that could have helped in improving security within the school. The plan is expensive, but it will give long term service. However, it is a one-time

How strongly has colonialism shaped the trajectories of post-colonial Essay
How strongly has colonialism shaped the trajectories of post-colonial African countries Discuss using one or several examples - Essay Example Would they have been richer or poorer today? This question has elicited debate for more than five decades, and also instigating exciting research by economic historians in colonial archives, an aspect, which has put the debate on a sound empirical footing. Some study findings have shown evidence of improved economic development outcomes within the period of colonialism. For instance, in the British West Africa, there was an increase of real wages (Frankema and Van Waaijenburg 2005, 34). Additionally, the status of military recruits in British East Africa and Ghana indicated that the height was increased during the colonial period, a pointer of increasing prosperity. Other arguments are that colonial rule was predatory. Should we consider this as evidence that colonialism was good for development in African countries? It should be considered that assessing the impact of colonialism does not only involve just looking at raw numbers, but also taking into consideration the counterfactual . We need to think on what the trajectories of African societies would have been at present if colonialism did not take place. Reid, (2002) observe that most African countries saw a steady rise on incomes during the colonial period. Africans reaped the benefits in development of infrastructure such as roads and railways as well as the mining technology. Colonization also led to deep integration of these African states into the World Trade Center and the world economy (115). However, it is still unclear n the extent by which such developments were contributed by colonialism and whether the development would have happened anyway due to the wake of global trade expansions or any other reason. The fact that there was a rise in the standard of living does not imply that all peopleââ¬â¢s living standards improved. Just taking an example from South Africa, the immiserising impact of land expropriation and establishment of ââ¬Å"dual economiesâ⬠on

Personal Finance Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Personal Finance - Essay Example The raising of the state pension age to 68 by 2048 will generally make individuals look for other income and pension alternatives which will sustain them since the current retirement age is 65. Thus, for the three years after the retirement, they will need to find a way in order to finance the lifestyle that they choose. In this case, it is expected that individuals will be opting to compensate their state pension by occupational and personal pension in order to bridge the gap. Personal pensions are more likely noting the fact that the package of benefits under this scheme is based on the discretion of individuals. Other people can also opt to find employment even after the retirement age. This is especially true noting the fact that there are some individuals who augment their pensions by retaining their jobs. Having an employment before the retirement is the most probable action that individuals will take especially those who cannot afford to purchase additional pension scheme. Inc reasing the age at which the pension plan will be received also means that the state will be paying pensioners three years less than what is previously practiced. For pensioners this can mean that lower priced packages will be made available since the expected payment time is now shorter. The establishment of a low-cost pension scheme which is coupled with automatic enrolment will allow more individuals to avail of these packages.
